It's Teacher Appreciation Week, and we want to celebrate the superstar teachers at CCS!
Ms. Shloss has been a part of the CCS family for 32 years. She first joined as a Calumet Baptist student in 1993 and then decided to come back to CBS to teach for one year. As an active alumna, she never left her love of CBS, now CCS. After 15 years of teaching across three states, this year, she returned to be our ELA department head after earning three bachelor's degrees in English, Psychology, and biblical studies and a master’s in Community Counseling.
Ms. S, as the students call her, attends Spirit of God Fellowship in South Holland and has far too many favorite moments at CCS to share them all. Some of her favorite moments include winning the poetry award at Nationals as a senior in high school. She shares that it was a huge shock and a turning point in her life, explaining, “I was never the smartest kid, the most athletic kid, or any other superlative kind of kid--but suddenly, I was good at one thing!” As a teacher, she also shares that taking students to the State competition for drama was a favorite moment, as it was also an excellent chance for kids who didn't have an opportunity to shine in typical school areas to use their gifts. Today, she is still in touch with most of those students, and they are still using those gifts, finding joy in giving those students the same thing that was given to her as a student.

Today our teachers had a ball! They played ultimate rock paper scissors. The winners were able to take the losers beads. These two were the last ones standing at the end of the days! Beads galore!

We have had some movement in the elementary for the I Heart My Teacher contest. We now have Mrs. Lloyd in the lead, and Mrs. Cheers has made it to the top 3, moving Mrs. King out of the top 3.
Who will win? You still have a week to help decide! Secondary students, who do you want to pie in the face?

Sunday Scripture: 127: 1

With less than 3 hours left of the amazing senior trip of 2025, the seniors stopped for dinner. A great meal together end a great week.

On their last full day of senior trip, the Class of 2025 started the day off at the Island where they shopped, treated their class officers and sponsor to an escape room as a thank you to them, enjoyed unlimited go Karting before ending the day out with a "fancy dinner" with hard earned class money.
They wanted to share with all who have supported their that "We are so grateful for CCS and this amazing opportunity. 😍🥰😭"

Senior Trip Check-in: Friday Class officers and Pastor Steve had a fantastic time enjoying their gift from their classmates. They completed an escape room at the highest difficulty and escaped with 58 seconds to spare. Safe to say they are already planning their next escape room adventure when they get home. 🥰
